  Organization of the Academy

  • Article 20 The Academy shall be organized as specialized divisions and shall have branches in territorial centres with a high scientific potential.
    It shall establish research teams, committees, commissions, as well as foundations, museums, publishing houses in order to carry out its activity.
    The Academy shall be able to set up law abiding profitable economic organizations with a view to achieving and supporting its objectives.

  • Article 21 The specialized division shall be set up as functional units of the Academy and shall group together all the sitting members and the corresponding members depending on their speciality.
    The number of members for each division shall be fixed by a resolution of the General Assembly.

  • Article 22 The honorary members of the Academy shall be co-opted in the specialized division, regardless of the prescribed number.

  • Article 23 The structure, organization and competence of the specialized divisions shall be approved by the General Assembly upon the proposal of the Presidium of the Academy.
    Subject to the evolution and complexity of the activity, the divisions may set up, reorganized, merged or dissolved by a decision of the General Assembly of the Academy taken by open vote and requiring the presence of at least 2/3 of the total number of members and the absolute majority of their votes.

  • Article 24 The specialized divisions shall have the following duties, mainly:
    - to debate and decide on the technical and scientific matters of their specific field;
    - to propose the organization of research teams, commissions and committees, to coordinate and analyze the way they perform their tasks;
    - to propose participation in technical and scientific events home and abroad;
    - to propose relationship with national and international organizations and to promote cooperation with them;
    - to propose annual awards for valuable technical and scientific works in their specific field;
    - to adopt proposals for the admission of new members to the Academy, according to Article 12-13.

  • Article 25 The meetings of the specialized divisions shall be usually held monthly and shall be legally represented by the half plus 1 of the total number of the sitting and corresponding members of the Division.
    The decisions of the Divisions are adopted by open ballot by a two-thirds majority of the present sitting and corresponding members, except as provided in art.13 in the Statute.

  • Article 26 The specialized divisions shall be led by a Bureau consisting of a president, a vice-president and a scientific secretary , elected by secret ballot for 5 years, as provided by art. 13, par.2 and art.25, par.1
    The president of the division shall be a sitting member of the Academy and his election shall be confirmed by the Presidium of the Academy.
    The president shall regularly inform the Presidium of the Academy with regard to the activities of the division and the decisions that were taken.

  • Article 27 The branches of the divisions shall be set up as a result of the decision of the General Assembly and shall group together the members of the Academy from a territorial area with scientific activity.
    The meetings of the branches shall be held monthly and shall require 2/3 of the total number of sitting and corresponding members.
    The branches shall be led by a bureau composed up of one president who is a sitting member of the Academy, one vice-president and one scientific secretary, elected by ballot with a majority of 2/3 of the votes of the silling and corresponding members present, for a period of 4 years.
    The branches are intended to attain the objects of the Academy in their area, in co-operation with the specialized divisions.
    The structure, organization and competence of the branches shall be subject to the approval of the General Assembly upon the proposal of the Presidium.

  • Article 28 research teams, commissions and committees shall be established temporarily or permanently in order to carry out scientific research work in interdisciplinary fields, under the coordination of the Presidium or in a specific field, under the coordination of the divisions.
    The temporary ones shall be set up subject to the approval of the Presidium while the permanent ones shall have to be approved by the General Assembly upon the proposal of the specialized divisions, in both cases.

  • Article 29 The Academy shall have an executive staff made up of specialized scientific and administrative personnel as well as assistants employed legally.
    The structure, organization and duties of the employees shall be approved by the Presidium of the Academy.
