| Election of Members |
Article 11 The election of the members of the Academy shall depend on the number of declared vacancies.
Article 12 Proposals for admission to the Academy may be submitted by
a/ the specialized divisions of the Academy as far as the sitting members are concerned; said members shall as a rule be nominated from among the corresponding members of those divisions;
b/ the sitting members, the specialized divisions of the Academy, the scientific research institutes, universities, specialized professional associations and other organizations having consulted the specialized divisions, as far the honorary members are concerned.
c/ the Presedium of the Academy, after having consulted the specialised divisions, as for as the honorary members are concerned.
Article 13 The proposals for admission to the Academy shall be submitted and adopted in the specialized divisions.
For sitting members, adoption shall be subject to ballot with a majority of 2/3 of the total number of sitting members; for corresponding and honorary members adoption shall require a majority of 2/3 of the total number of sitting ad corresponding members of the said division.
Article 14 The Presidium of the Academy shall analyze the proposals of the specialized
divisions.The proposals adopted by the Presidium are presented to the General Assembly.
Article 15 The General Assembly shall decide on the admission to the Academy only on the basis of the written consent of the candidates.
The applications for admission to the Academy, written on somebody's behalf, shall not be taken into consideration.
Article 16 The sitting members as well as the corresponding members shall be entitled to participate in the meetings of the specialized divisions where they belong, in the meetings of the General Assembly and of the other collective bodies where elected to vote on the decisions related to matters being debated and shall be obliged to have an active and responsible involvement in attaining the statutory objects of the Academy.
Article 17 The members of the Academy shall be entitled to specify their membership as sitting members, corresponding members or honorary members of the Academy of Technical Sciences of Romania in the official and personal documents and to wear the ASTR badge.
Article 18 Membership is personal and non-transferable.
Article 19 The election as a member of the Academy shall be for life.
The Presidium of the Academy can examine and propose to the General Assembly the suspension or, case by case, the exclusion from the Academy of members who do not observe the statutory obligations, who are carrying out in writing or by other means an activity which is contrary to the interests or the prestige of ASTR or who were condemned to serve a prison term for an intentional serious offence.
